The Whyalla Steelworks, under new ownership, is exploring ways to increase the capacity, by up to 50%, and improve cost efficiency through improvement of the current plants equipment and harnessing lost energy of the current plant.
OUR INVOLVEMENT
Capisce Qs was engaged through the owner’s engineering management team to develop cost estimating guidelines and assisting in preparing and reviewing independent cost estimates of the current projects. Further activities have included providing probabilistic risk estimate ranging facilitation.
VALUE ADDED
Capisce Qs continues to provide probabilistic risk estimating and review services across a number of priority projects. This service has enabled informed decision making on project feasibility in a timely manner allowing focus on developing and improving value initiatives on the projects with a higher chance of success.

HAPPY VALLEY WTP WATER QUALITY IMPROVEMENTS

The project looks at upgrading the Happy Valley water treatment plant to solve on going issues with aesthetics, taste and odour of the water. Works involve modification of existing flocculation chambers, construction of ozone generator, BAC filter upgrade and installation of tertiary UV system.
OUR INVOLVEMENT
Capisce Qs provided a cost estimate on the design and construct of the water treatment plant, including preliminaries, civil works, mechanical works, electrical works, construction management, test and commissioning and design costs.
VALUE ADDED
Utilizing our extensive involvement in a vast range of Water projects through years of industry experience and knowledge, Capisce Qs provided optioneering costs and assisted in a risk analysis for all options considered. Through creative thoughts and new ideas from all around the table it allowed us to make allowances for the unexpected and put contingency plans in place and provide independent cost related recommendations.
